Johnsons Epilogue
I wrote earlier about reuniting the Johnsons with their daughter in Maryland. They were taken out of New Orleans in the Federation van convoy. Their daughter’s note which follows should be read as thanks to the Federation, B’nai Israel and Beth Shalom, as all had a hand in this. I will tell them so when I reply. The Baton Rouge Jewish Community’s work is obviously deeply appreciated.
Good afternoon, Rabbi Zamek and Ms. Mimi B.
Thank you so much for all your gracious and much-needed assistance! My parents landed safely early yesterday morning at BWI. They are "exhaling" and resting comfortably at my home along with my brother, his wife and daughter, and the rest of the family (including Spike the Wonder Dog). It feels wonderful!
My parents cannot speak highly or often enough about how they were treated and cared for by you, the Rayner/Clubb family, and the entire Beth Shalom congregation. They would like to send a personal note of thanks to you, so would please forward the appropriate address information at your earliest convenience?
On behalf of the entire Johnson family, please accept our deepest and unending gratitude.
